National Capital Concert Band – Percussionists wanted
The National Capital Concert Band is actively seeking additional support in our percussion section round out the existing musicians on Tymps, Drum Set and Auxillary (Mallets). As a large scale ensemble (50+members) we are endeavouring to keep a balance within our dynamic, and to support that with a solid rhythmic foundation.

Under Maestro Rocco Romeo the National Capital Concert Band continues to foster musical excellence through varied and challenging repertoire and high performance standards. In a variety of venues, the Band undertakes approximately six performances throughout a season, running September to June.
Accomplished musicians of all ages who can commit to regular attendance are welcome. We have recently responded to a number of recruits to fill vacancies and to supplement sections in our 50+ member ensemble.

ABOUT THE SHOW
The story is the immediate sequel to The Magician’s Nephew (presented by 9th Hour last March) and the second of seven stories in The Chronicles of Narnia. It will mark 9th Hour’s fourth and final production of the 2014 season “Into The Wardrobe” of C.S. Lewis works. The story is largely written as Christian allegory exploring the themes of atonement, resurrection, redemption, forgiveness, sin, temptation, making choices, as well as good and evil. MUSICIAN ROLES
The production is seeking a rehearsal piano accompanist that can double as the synthesizer during performances. Cast rehearsals are Sundays (4-10pm), as well as Mondays and Wednesdays (6-10pm) in the Glebe, starting October 15. The musician in this position will be expected to work closely with the Assistant Director in rehearsing the music with the cast and recording the vocal numbers to be used for choreography.
The production is also seeking the following musicians to form an ensemble orchestra to play accompanying the cast and production for all performances of Narnia the musical (secondary and post-secondary students are welcome to apply): Trumpet, Trombone, Flute, Clarinet, Percussion, Synthesizer / Piano (rehearsals)
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
Musicians will be called to rehearse together one evening a week in November, as well as most Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday evenings in December with the cast. Technical and dress rehearsals are December 9-10 (1-10pm) with performances from December 11-21, 2014 at Centrepointe Theatres. Schedule conflicts known in advance can be taken into account.
COMPENSATION
All musicians will be engaged under a contractual agreement with 9th Hour Theatre Company and be paid an honorarium of $300.00 for the commitment. The musician in the role of rehearsal piano accompanist and synthesizer for performances will receive an honorarium of $600 for a greater time commitment and responsibility.

As band members, we are a fun-loving bunch of individuals, from students to seniors, all with varying degrees of musicianship.
